PBA was a design consultant to HDR, Inc. to develop the master plan for the 38 acre Chesterfield Central Park.  The masterplan included a lake with a gazebo bridge and water features, nature trails, an amphitheater, and other park buildings. The park now attracts over 250,000 visitors per year.

PBA then designed the park’s outdoor amphitheater buildings including performance platform, backstage support spaces, concession building, and remote comfort station. The 2,400 square foot performance platform is set against a wooded backdrop with landscaped walking trails and the park’s lake.  It is equipped with house amplification and lighting systems and provides ample space and power for speakers, amplifiers and special effect equipment used by performers.

The amphitheater hosts Chesterfield’s City Concert Series, the Summer Movie Series, and many public and private events.  For small events, the 300 fixed seats in front of the performance stage provide a comfortable viewing arrangement.  For larger events the grassy terraces and sloping lawn behind the fixed seats expand the audience capacity to approximately 3,000.
