Civil Courts Building

St. Louis, Missouri (1991 - Present)

Since 1991, Powers Bowersox Associates has provided a variety of services for the renovation of this historic courthouse.  These include development of an occupant relocation plan for an eight year construction schedule, renovation of the law library, evaluation of building systems, and production of a ten year maintenance and repair master plan.

We developed the “Courtroom of the Future” design for a state-of-the-art, high technology courtroom funded by the St. Louis Bar Foundation.  The design challenge focused on incorporating technology so as not to alter the dignity of the courtroom and richness of the architectural details.  Through use of full-size mockups and study models, we were able to thoroughly investigate sight lines, equipment installation details and other technology/user relationships.

Other PBA projects completed include the renovation of the main lobby with new entry vestibules and security stations, the renovation of the 12th floor promenade to permit secure public access, the development of the building-wide signage program, and the renovation and addition of new prisoner holding cells
