Public Media Commons

St. Louis, Missouri (2014)

Powers Bowersox Associates served as Architect of Record and systems design consultant for the innovative St. Louis Public Media Commons in the Grand Center District. This 13,000 square foot media rich public plaza replaces a parking lot between the public television studio building of the Nine Network and the public radio studio building of the University of Missouri St. Louis KWMU. The dynamic outdoor media environment features large-scale interactive audio-visual elements to provide a venue for cultural experiences and community exchange with public media.  The facades of the KETC and Sheldon buildings define the Commons as a “white room”.  They are faced with white CNC pattern perforated panels, up-lit uniformly in white light at night.
